EVS’s application for membership was approved by the ICCS General Assembly.
Children's identity rights Working Group
As part of the ICCS’s membership in the Global Alliance to End Statelessness, Carlotta Lopresti, Executive Secretary of the ICCS, participated in an informal consultation of the Identity Rights Working Group (IDRWG) in Geneva.
The working group will meet again on September 28th.
106th Plenary Meeting of the CDCJ
From Tuesday 2 June to Thursday 4 June, Carlotta Lopresti, Legal Executive Assistant of the ICCS, represented the ICCS as an observer at the 106th plenary meeting of the Council of Europe’s European Committee on Legal Cooperation (CDCJ).

EVS Annual Congress
From Tuesday 26 May to Thursday 28 May 2026, Nicolas Nord, ICCS Secretary General, and Michel Montini, ICCS President, took part in the EVS annual congress in Oostende, Belgium.

Conference on 21 and 22 Mai 2026 in Nice
On 21 and 22 May 2026, the Secretary General of the ICCS, Nicolas Nord, was invited by the Université Côte d’Azur to the conference ‘La crise des offices’, held in Nice, to discuss the current challenges facing the legal profession.

Seminar in Cambodia
During his visit to Cambodia, the ICCS Secretary General, Nicolas Nord, took part in a seminar entitled “Protecting Children from Illicits Practices”. The seminar provided an opportunity to highlight the protections offered through civil status.
Conference on Civil Status - Lyon
The International Commission on Civil Status (ICCS) and the Centre de Droit de la Famille – Equipe Louis Josserand (Lyon III University), with the support of the estate genealogy firm Coutot-Roehrig and the Institut National des Formations Notariales (INFN), held a conference entitled “Personal Status, Civil Status, Current Issues” on November 7, 2025, in Lyon.
Unanimous Granting of Observer Status to the Central African Republic
During its Extraordinary Bureau Meeting on 4 November 2025, the Bureau unanimously decided to grant the Central African Republic observer status within the ICCS, marking an important step in its growing international recognition.
General Meeting of the Committee of the Swiss Association of Civil Registry Officers
The ICCS Secretary General, Nicolas Nord, attended the General Assembly of the Committee of the Swiss Association of Civil Status Officials held in Lausanne on 16 and 17 May.
EVS annual congress
Nicolas Nord, ICCS Secretary General, took part in the EVS annual congress in Rotterdam.
Conference on civil status - Rio de Janeiro
Nicolas Nord, ICCS Secretary General, took part in a conference on the consequences of the civil status system for the reliability of records and the international circulation of people’s individual and family status. This conference was organised by the ICCS, the University of Lyon III and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
Conference on 3 April 2025 in Corte
Nicolas Nord, ICCS Secretary General, took part in the conference on 3 April organised in Corte by the University of Corsica. The conference focused on international judicial cooperation.
Signature of Convention No. 35
Convention No. 35 was adopted by the ICSC General Assembly on September 13th. The text was immediately signed by Switzerland.
Executive Training on Civil Aspects of International Child Protection (ICPT)
Nicolas Nord, ICCS Secretary General, gave a lecture “The ICCS Activities and Good Practices in the field of International Child Protection” in the framework of the Executive Training on Civil Aspects of International Child Protection (ICPT). Thanks to the Children’s Rights Academy of the University of Geneva and the audience for this opportunity and the warm atmosphere.
International Symposium on Civil Status
Event at the University of Coimbra organized by the National Association of Natural Persons Registrars of Brazil (ARPEN – Brazil) in partnership with the Centre d’Etudes Notariales et d’Enregistrement (CENor) and the Institut des Registres et du Notariat (IRN). Presentation by the ICCS Secretary General, Nicolas Nord, entitled “Changes and modifications of the civil status of natural persons in the post-modern and globalized world”.

Participation to the XXIII Meeting of CLARCIEV
The ICCS General Secretariat, represented by its Secretary General, Nicolas Nord, and its Executive Secretary, Carlotta Lopresti, participated to the 23rd CLARCIEV Meeting in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
On this occasion, Nicolas Nord, Secretary General of the ICCS, and Omar Morales, President of CLARCIEV, formalized the cooperation agreement between the two organizations, signed on 18 May 2026 (photo below). The President of the ICCS, Michel Montini, presented the agreement remotely.
His remarks are available in three languages: French, English and Spanish.
The ICCS participated in two panel discussions on surrogacy in Europe and on ways to combat fraud, and attended the CLARCIEV General Assembly as an observer.
